I have attended to The Berne Union Annual General Meeting Which took place between 24-26 October 2016, hosted in Lisbon by COSEC.
COSEC gave a warm welcome to us in Lisbon which is the city of sun and departure port for the 16th Century voyages of discovery.
According to the published figures, in 2016, Berne Union members provided USD 1.9 trillion of payment risk protection to banks, exporters and investors – equivalent to 11% of world cross border trade for goods and services (calculated with respect to World Trade Organization statistics).
Manuel Caldeira Cabral, Minister of Economy of the Portuguese Government, opened proceedings for the plenary with a presentation underlining the importance of export credit agencies to an economy such as Portugal’s, in supporting and sustaining global trade amidst difficult economic conditions.
