I was in Algeria to investigate the feasibility of an Iron and Steel Factory which was planned to be established in Oran, Algeria. I wanted to examine the facilities of the investor company as well as their relationship with the government and inhabitants of Oran.
Because my return flight was late, I had the opportunity to meet with CAGEX, which is the export credit agency of Algeria in Alger on the last day of my trip.
Although Algeria has very big natural gas exports, it is a net importer, because most of the goods are imported into the country. So, Algeria is a foreign investment depended country in many industries. To reduce this dependency, the government seriously supports the establishment of domestic industries. Algeria is one of the most stable countries in the region where you can trade with high profit margins as long as you have a local partner.
