I visited Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, between 5-7 April to visit a major chain of retail stores in the country. A large part of the product range sold in the chain was imported from Turkey. I visited the group’s major stores and warehouses.
Senior bankers, who are knowledgeable about the economy of Azerbaijan and I discussed the situation of the Azerbaijani economy, which is very sensitive to oil prices, and whether there are any problems with foreign exchange liquidity.
